Happy Birthday!

Wednesday, October 24th, 2007

Guinness’ birthday was on Sunday.  I gave him a couple new hats.  I think he likes them.

We went out to breakfast at Fox and Goose with my parents on Sunday to celebrate.

Freddie is too cute in her Daddy’s new hat.

New Pictures

Monday, October 22nd, 2007

My Mom doesn’t upload her pics very often…my fault really since I’m generally the one that uploads them for her.

There are 24 new pages of pics (mostly Freddie) on her flickr.

Enjoy!

Baby Teeth

Friday, October 19th, 2007

After several failed attempts I finally got a picture of Freddie’s teeth.  My Aunt Gini requested them and I figured you might all like to see them.

Cute isn’t she?

Freddie now really likes to hold onto someone’s hands and walk around.  She’s pretty good at it too.  She also stands and holds onto furniture with just one hand.  She occasionally lets go but only balances for a second or two before falling.  A few days ago she tried to follow Guinness and my mother-in-law.  She apparently forgot she didn’t know how to walk and ended up bonking her nose on the floor.  She’s falls down quite a bit but it doesn’t seem to bother her.

Her fastest mode of travel is still crawling.  She’s mighty quick.

There are more new pictures on our flickr.

Second Wedding Anniversary

Sunday, October 14th, 2007

Guinness and I celebrated our 2nd wedding anniversary a touch early. Friday night, Freddie stayed with my Mom. It was our first night apart ever. We all did surprisingly well. Guinness, of course, was fine. He missed her but wasn’t as paranoid as I was. I only called to check in 3 times! Freddie was fine. Grandma however, didn’t get much sleep.

Guinness and I went to California Fat’s. One of our first dates was there. It was really strange to just leave the house without a baby, car seat and assorted equipment. We had a lovely dinner and in the morning decided to go out to breakfast too.

Freddie was happy, but not especially happy to see me when I picked her up. I wasn’t sure if she even realized she’d been at Grandma’s for longer than normal. I think she must know though because since then she cries and panics a bit whenever I leave the room. She also clings like a monkey when I put her to bed. Last night she seemed afraid to go to sleep. She barely napped all day and still didn’t fall asleep till 9:30. I knew she was tired and she’d sleep long. She slept all through the night…11 hours straight. That’s a record for her.

Tomorrow, October 15th, is our actual anniversary. It’s hard to believe it’s been 2 whole years already. A fantastic 2 years!

I have such a wonderful little family. I’m so happy!

First Blush

Wednesday, October 10th, 2007

I know she doesn’t mean to cause her mother such embarrassment, but it did seem at the time she did it on purpose.

I hate seeing mothers in markets (or anywhere really) letting their children run wild.  I always try to prevent her from causing any sort of inconvenience for others.  Fairly easy at this age, but that’s likely why this bothered me so much.

I was standing in line at Raley’s with Freddie on my hip.  I placed my purse on the checkout counter to dig around and find my wallet.  While still in my arms, she managed to (ever so quickly) free the disabled children’s donation box from its counter attachments and throw it to the floor.  Embarrassing enough if that were it, but the acrylic box shattered to bits sending coins, bills and jagged box bits everywhere.

The helpful clerks tried to reassure me that it was in no way my (or Freddie’s) fault.  The box must have been loose already.  Still, it was my child that dashed it to pieces.  I can’t help but feel guilty and of course overwhelmingly embarrassed.

I’m sure there will be many more such incidents over the years to come.
