We’re Back — Christmas was GREAT — New Baby in the Family

Friday, December 28th, 2007

Our vacation is over :(  and we made it back from Disney World just fine.  We drove like mad and made it home super quick.

Our Christmas was fantastic.  Freddie got more presents than seems possible and she loves them all.  She’s been having a grand time in her play room with all the new toys.  Freddie currently has 5 teeth with a 6th about to break the surface.  She’s 28 inches tall and weighs 19.75 lbs.  She’s just learned to scrunch her nose up when she smiles and thinks it’s really funny.

Today we went down to my Grandparent’s house in Lodi for one final Christmas celebration.  It was wonderful to see everyone again but Guinness and I were hoping to drive up to Jenner and left the party quite early.  Once home we decided we should probably spend the next few days cleaning up the colossal mess we made over the holidays.  What with unpacking from the trip and opening piles of presents, the house is in quite a state of disarray.  I wish we were going to Jenner though…I could use a vacation after my vacation.

In other news, my cousin Suzanne who was due to have her baby February 14th ended up having a Christmas Eve baby instead.  Suzie’s blood pressure was extremely high…to the point the doctors decided the baby was safer outside the womb.  They took baby Georgia Abigail Harper by C-section at 32 weeks on December 24, 2007 at 5:22 pm.  She weighed in at 3 pounds, 4 ounces and was 16 1/2 inches tall.  Mother and baby are doing fine but remaining in the hospital for a while.

CONGRATULATIONS SUZANNE AND ROSS!

Still not Walking

Sunday, December 9th, 2007

Freddie has nearly walked on her own a few times now but not enough yet that I’d call it her first steps. Any day now.

Josh and Liorah left this afternoon but they had a great time while they were here.

Guinness tells me he has posted some of our pictures to flickr. We’ll try to get the rest up soon. My cold is nearly completely gone now and so is Freddie’s. Sharon seems to have a slight sniffle and Guinness came down with food poisoning yesterday. It takes something pretty bad to keep Guinness away from Dinner at WDW. When he said he couldn’t make it we knew he had to be feeling pretty bad. He’s still a bit under the weather but seems to be getting better.

We really are having a great time regardless of illness! It all sounds worse than it is.

Freddie now has 4 teeth completely visible. All smiles are somewhat toothy now…too cute. She looks a lot different with her haircut and the new teeth. The change after the haircut was rather dramatic I think.

Tomorrow Guinness and I have our fancy day. I hope Guinness is feeling well enough by then to enjoy it. We’re both having a massage and a facial and then we go to Victoria and Albert’s (super fancy, insanely expensive restaurant) for dinner.

I’m sorry I haven’t been posting more. We’ve been very sleepy getting back to the room rather late most nights and with the cold I’ve been enjoying a nice jet tub bath and going straight to bed. The rooms are really amazing!

Freddie’s been really good sleeping through most nights and never waking up more than a few minutes for a bottle when she does wake up in the night. She’s been a bit fussy at a few restaurants but we’re learning how to space things for better dining experiences all around. I chickened out on leaving her with a sitter. Freddie’s come with us to most of the meals. Sharon stays with Freddie for a few.

Guinness and Sharon are watching a Christmas movie in the living room. I’m going to go watch too now.

Goodnight.

Road Trip and Early Days at Disney World

Sunday, December 9th, 2007

I somehow posted that last post twice. I’ll fix it later. I’m to sleepy to do it now. I still have a bit of a cold but that hasn’t been stopping me from having a wonderful time!

The last two days of the drive went pretty well. We got up early and missed all but road construction traffic in Houston. We drove all the way to Madison, Florida that night and stayed in another Holiday Inn Express…very nice. We drove really hard that day so that the next day would be nice and short.

We drove for about three hours Friday morning and checked into Animal Kingdom Lodge. I love that resort! Our room was ready nearly right away even though it was a couple hours before normal check-in time. It was a very nice Disney Vacation Club room. Not a full kitchen, but enough to get you buy if you felt like eating in your room. We toured the hotel, Sharon had never been to there before, and had dinner at Boma. We didn’t go to a park that night but there was lots of stuff to check out at the resort. We saw the animals in the savanna and Freddie had a great time riding Guinness’ and my shoulders. We made it an early night and caught up on our sleep.

Saturday we ate at Boma again (fantastic restaurant) and then checked out of the Lodge. The real vacation started then. We headed for our home resort in the Disney Vacation Club, Saratoga Springs. Our rooms are amazing! Guinness and I have a king bed, a jet tub and a shared bathroom with Sharon. We also have a full kitchen with stove, oven, microwave, fridge, and even a dishwasher. So nice! We haven’t really cooked anything yet (except for tea) but that’s because the meal plans Guinness got us have us eating so much delicious food we couldn’t possibly eat any more. Josh and Liorah, have the adjoining room with their own tiny kitchenette and a full bathroom. They leave in a few days and Sharon will move over into their room for additional privacy. These rooms are so wonderful it really does feel like coming home….The Cast Members say “welcome home” when you arrive and there are welcome home mats outside every room.

Josh and Liorah didn’t get here till late that night, so the rest of us went to the Animal Kingdom for the day on our own. Freddie is able to go on quite a few of the rides. She loves the train ride at Animal Kingdom and the Safari ride.

We did so much I don’t think I can stay awake long enough to give all the details. I’ll just give you the Freddie highlights since that’s what I think most people want to know about most.

I took Freddie into the petting zoo at Animal Kingdom. She didn’t want to pet the goats, but one came over to nuzzle the rubber soles of her brown shoes. She giggled a bit and kicked his nose. He didn’t seem to mind but I prevented any goat damage.

People continue to tell us she’s the cutest baby ever….nearly every day.

Freddie got her hair cut at the Harmony Barber Shop in Magic Kingdom. The barber did a very good job but she does look quite a bit different. We got a certificate and a “first haircut” pair of Mickey ears. We saved the hair clippings as well.

In England at Epcot, Freddie was eyeing a small Winnie the Pooh plush. We let her hold it for a second and it went right in her mouth. We decided we had to buy it for her (already the plan). When we tried to take it from her to pay for it she wouldn’t let us have it. She held on tight and whimpered. The clerk used a different one to ring us up. She’s too cute the way she clings onto the doll. Tonight she was fussing a bit when I put her to bed so I gave her the Pooh Bear. She held him tight and went right to sleep….so cute!

Last night we went to MGM. The have an amazing light display set up on what’s supposed to be a set for some city. It’s really too cool! Somehow, they make it snow! It’s really soap suds so it dissolves on contact but the affect is quite remarkable. Freddie loved it.

more later….
