I somehow posted that last post twice. I’ll fix it later. I’m to sleepy to do it now. I still have a bit of a cold but that hasn’t been stopping me from having a wonderful time!
The last two days of the drive went pretty well. We got up early and missed all but road construction traffic in Houston. We drove all the way to Madison, Florida that night and stayed in another Holiday Inn Express…very nice. We drove really hard that day so that the next day would be nice and short.
We drove for about three hours Friday morning and checked into Animal Kingdom Lodge. I love that resort! Our room was ready nearly right away even though it was a couple hours before normal check-in time. It was a very nice Disney Vacation Club room. Not a full kitchen, but enough to get you buy if you felt like eating in your room. We toured the hotel, Sharon had never been to there before, and had dinner at Boma. We didn’t go to a park that night but there was lots of stuff to check out at the resort. We saw the animals in the savanna and Freddie had a great time riding Guinness’ and my shoulders. We made it an early night and caught up on our sleep.
Saturday we ate at Boma again (fantastic restaurant) and then checked out of the Lodge. The real vacation started then. We headed for our home resort in the Disney Vacation Club, Saratoga Springs. Our rooms are amazing! Guinness and I have a king bed, a jet tub and a shared bathroom with Sharon. We also have a full kitchen with stove, oven, microwave, fridge, and even a dishwasher. So nice! We haven’t really cooked anything yet (except for tea) but that’s because the meal plans Guinness got us have us eating so much delicious food we couldn’t possibly eat any more. Josh and Liorah, have the adjoining room with their own tiny kitchenette and a full bathroom. They leave in a few days and Sharon will move over into their room for additional privacy. These rooms are so wonderful it really does feel like coming home….The Cast Members say “welcome home” when you arrive and there are welcome home mats outside every room.
Josh and Liorah didn’t get here till late that night, so the rest of us went to the Animal Kingdom for the day on our own. Freddie is able to go on quite a few of the rides. She loves the train ride at Animal Kingdom and the Safari ride.
We did so much I don’t think I can stay awake long enough to give all the details. I’ll just give you the Freddie highlights since that’s what I think most people want to know about most.
I took Freddie into the petting zoo at Animal Kingdom. She didn’t want to pet the goats, but one came over to nuzzle the rubber soles of her brown shoes. She giggled a bit and kicked his nose. He didn’t seem to mind but I prevented any goat damage.
People continue to tell us she’s the cutest baby ever….nearly every day.
Freddie got her hair cut at the Harmony Barber Shop in Magic Kingdom. The barber did a very good job but she does look quite a bit different. We got a certificate and a “first haircut” pair of Mickey ears. We saved the hair clippings as well.
In England at Epcot, Freddie was eyeing a small Winnie the Pooh plush. We let her hold it for a second and it went right in her mouth. We decided we had to buy it for her (already the plan). When we tried to take it from her to pay for it she wouldn’t let us have it. She held on tight and whimpered. The clerk used a different one to ring us up. She’s too cute the way she clings onto the doll. Tonight she was fussing a bit when I put her to bed so I gave her the Pooh Bear. She held him tight and went right to sleep….so cute!
Last night we went to MGM. The have an amazing light display set up on what’s supposed to be a set for some city. It’s really too cool! Somehow, they make it snow! It’s really soap suds so it dissolves on contact but the affect is quite remarkable. Freddie loved it.
more later….
