Today is my little girl’s very first birthday! At 8:37 am she will be one year old exactly.

I’ve just been reading my tell-all post from last year…made me cry. It really seems like she was born just the other day. She’s grown so much in one year. Now she’s walking (lots) and talking (just a little bit) and testing Mommy and Daddy (constantly). Freddie says two words together now though it’s not her own pairing. She says “hey you” and “hi you”. Guinness says “hey you” all the time. In Disney World, we think she said “Just try it”. Another strange phrase Guinness uses in a game they play.
She’s also learned to waive and say “hi” at the same time. The testing she started several months ago. We’ll tell her not to do something, and she’ll cry. Seconds later she’ll start checking if we’re still looking at her and try to do whatever it is again. Most often when we tell her no again she just sits down and cries even harder. Sometimes she does it anyway and laughs.
In general, she’s a very good girl. I never did get her another haircut, but it’s looking more normal now. Guinness was of course right and it just needed to grow past a certain point.

Guinness and I both have to work today so we’re not doing too much celebrating today. At one year old Freddie doesn’t really know the difference. We’re having a very small family gathering this weekend. I haven’t decided if I should give her the traditional cake to destroy or not. It seems like far too much sugar to give a baby. I’ve been trying to think of a fun alternative but can’t seem to come up with anything that would be special for her. She’s never really had too much sugar before. When she had the stomach flu we gave her little bits of sugar cookie. At that point I thought her eating something/anything was most important. Still she didn’t eat too much of it. A cake, even a cupcake seems like a lot. I suppose I’ll figure out something.

Freddie’s still asleep right now. I’d better get some things done before she wakes up.

MY BABY IS A WHOLE YEAR OLD!!!

I’ve finally posted video of Freddie walking.  Not her first steps, but better than nothing. You can see my videos here.  I’ll also put a link up for future use.

I’m still so mad at myself for breaking our video camera.  I now have to settle for crappy digital camera video.  Still, it’s better than nothing.  My cousin Benny (Ben to the rest of you) is going to take a look at the video camera but we have little hope of recovering the lost film.

I suck.
